Cardiac Rehabilitation is a program that can strengthen your heart, reduce your chances of ending up back in the hospital, and can increase your life expectancy. It is the standard of care recommended by the American Heart Association for those with a recent heart procedure or cardiac condition.
Recora’s program spans 12-18 weeks and consists of clinician-supervised individual and/or group sessions twice to three times a week. Sessions are personalized based on your health history and physical strength. As you build strength over time through exercise, your care team will coach you to achieve your goals. In addition to physical activities to strengthen your heart, we provide personalized education as well as nutrition and stress management.
What is Recora’s Program?
Recora offers virtual cardiac rehabilitation you can do from the comfort of your home. The program is similar to a facility-based program, except it is done through the Internet with live clinicians monitoring your progress. No special equipment is necessary, as there are home-based exercises that help your recovery.
What should I expect from my initial appointment?
The 90-minute initial session covers many aspects of your health, with the goal of designing a tailored plan for your cardiac recovery. We discuss what the 12-18 week program looks like and answer any questions you might have.
We will review your current health conditions, nutrition goals, medications, functional status, and mood levels. The information from this session is extremely important for your recovery program (12-18 weeks). We even work in a little exercise in the first session to see what your baseline exercise tolerance is.
Is virtual cardiac rehabilitation as good as facility-based cardiac rehabilitation?
The American Heart Association and American College of Cardiology have deemed virtual cardiac rehabilitation a great alternative to facility-based programs. In some instances, a facility program may be better, especially if you have a concerning arrhythmia that needs monitoring.
Am I clinically eligible for Recora?
There are clinical criteria for cardiac rehabilitation in order to be covered by insurance. Recora checks your clinical history and makes sure you have an eligible condition for cardiac rehabilitation. Typical covered diagnoses include heart attack, stent, bypass surgery, valvular surgery, angina, and heart failure (with reduced EF%). We will let you know once the eligibility checks are complete.
